This summer I started on a new pc build, and a couple of weeks ago, I completed it! It would have been nice if I had my blog setup during that time so I could picture document the progress. Alas, all you'll get now is the finished result, which I'm very happy with! ^.^
I was upgrading from an AMD Phenom X4 9950 with 2gb of ram with an Abit A-N78HD motherboard and a 19" LCD monitor.
Those are fairly decent specs, so why was I upgrading? Well, it all began when I noticed I was getting a lot of ground loop interference when recording into my firewire soundcard, a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24. The noise was driving me crazy. A high pitched squealing that would make my eyes water at times. I couldn't figure out which component was causing it. All I was sure was that when I switched on my firewire device and it initialised in Windows, the high pitch noise would switch on also.
Now, this was not the only problem. Here's the very strange thing...
